THE BRAND OR DEALER Tell me who is it that you buy from? Is it the dealer or is it the brand? Who do you go to for help if something goes wrong? Who provides the warranty service? More importantly, who do you expect to follow-up, to be concerned, to treat you with respect? Carrier will reluctantly respond to you, but they go to great lengths to ignore you. Your only recourse is to count on the dealer. This is a story of why you must avoid Furnace & AC Experts, and its owner Mr. 5-star review for a pen, Asif Khan. UPDATE October 2022 Turning the heat on for the first time fall 2022 and the furnace failed. A scheduled call is interrupted by a fender bender by their poorly staffed tech staff (I know these are pervasive, but if you are choosing a furnace supplier in Canada you must be assured that they follow through; this firm does not and they have constant staff turnover). Fast forward and we received service five days after our request. Diagnosis was a failed gas valve on a unit not even a year old. Steer clear of this company. For what its worth, my wife noted another company that we wanted to transfer our warranty to and Asif Khan the owner of Furnace & AC "Experts" says Maple are an Iranian company (implying that we should avoid them for their ethnicity is our take away). Yikes. UPDATE October 2022 Back up to earlier this year and Asif "sold" us a used controller unit he took out of another customer's home. Make sure you have full visibility to what you are buying from Asif. He told us not to register it, but of course we did. He was pissed LOL. Every email we send is copied to Carrier customer support (there is true irony in that nomenclature), but they never respond. UPDATE October 2023 Thanksgiving Day (Hey, when it gets cold in Toronto do not count on Furnace & AC Experts and Carrier.) The new Carrier product failed on first use with the same problem, code 35. Steer well clear of Carrier. (Please see their prior problems with recalls that went under the radar. They are not a serious company any longer.) UPDATE October 2024 Our third year in a row turning a new Carrier furnace on and having it immediately fail. Another gas valve failure (our fourth; and every year since 2021). Carrier is not a trustworthy brand, but more importantly they have failed to manage their certified installers. Asif Khan will sell you his flawed product, offer a pen if you write a positive review (really, that's this guy's pitch), but that's the last time you will ever see him. He sends his poorly trained techs out (you never see the same face twice) or his number one guy du jour, but he'll never be face-to-face with you again. He will not respond to emails and doesn't even have a personalized email address (Asif Khan uses "info@"). What kind of business owner does that? This is a guy who installed a used Infinity controller taken from another job and asked us to not register it with Carrier. Of course we did and I assume he took some heat for that and promptly installed a new one (DM me for scans of his work orders). Latest news is that Carrier's Management Review Board (case #05504719) offered to pay for another of their "certified" installers to come to our home and determine whether the unit was installed properly. We went with Maple (the Iranians Asif warned us about 2 years ago) to audit his work. UPDATE October 2024 Service call booked two days ago. No show and no call. Another cold uncomfortable night with a Furnace & AC "Experts" installed Carrier furnace. UPDATE Nov 2024 Carrier declares the AC Furnace "Experts" improperly installed the unit and has not followed up in a professional manner befitting their brand. We'll say more about the brand, but this is a small step towards having this nightmare resolved. Avoid this company and Carrier. More to come.
